The Drakensberg is a fabulous year-round destination. The right time for your visit depends on your interests. Each season holds its own unique appeal.
Peak tourist seasons in the Drakensberg occur during the summer holidays (December to January) and the Easter break. If you don’t mind the crowds and are looking for a vibrant atmosphere, this may be the perfect time for you. Just be sure to book accommodations well in advance to secure your spot. If you prefer a more tranquil experience, consider visiting the Drakensberg during the shoulder seasons of spring (September to November) or autumn (March to May). During these times, you can enjoy mild temperatures, beautiful landscapes, and fewer tourists.
