Why you should visit
Tucked away in Botswana’s remote north, the Linyanti Marshes are a hidden gem for those seeking raw, off-the-beaten-path safari experiences. This pristine wilderness is defined by its winding waterways, papyrus-lined lagoons, and seasonal floodplains — a magnet for wildlife in the dry months. Elephant herds gather in impressive numbers, while predators like wild dogs, lions, and leopards thrive in the mosaic of woodland and wetland. With fewer visitors than the Okavango, Linyanti offers rare intimacy with nature and exceptional photographic opportunities.
Our favourite time to visit
From June to October, the dry season draws wildlife to the Linyanti River and its marshes, creating dramatic game-viewing scenes against a backdrop of golden light and open skies. This is the best time to witness large elephant concentrations, predator activity, and the region’s haunting natural beauty at its most vivid — a true wilderness experience, far from the crowds.
