Moremi

Moremi

Moremi Game Reserve is home to the densest concentration of wildlife in Africa. Covering approximately 3,900 sq. km, where land and Delta meet, Moremi Game Reserve is a profoundly picturesque preserve of seasonal and perennial floodplains. The landscape includes waterways, lagoons, pools, pans, grasslands, and forests.

This diverse landscape is also known for spectacular game viewing and bird watching, including all significant, naturally occurring herbivore and carnivore species in the region and over 400 species of birds, many migratory and some endangered. Both Black and White Rhino have recently been re-introduced, making the reserve a 'Big Five' destination. Next to that, Moremi is also home to 30% of the worlds remaining African wild dogs.

Why you should visit

Set in the heart of the Okavango Delta, Moremi is one of Africa’s most diverse and wildlife-rich reserves. A mosaic of floodplains, mopane woodlands, lagoons, and savannah, it offers an extraordinary blend of land and water safaris. This is one of the few places where you can spot the Big Five alongside rare species like sitatunga and red lechwe. With its thriving predator populations — including lions, leopards, and wild dogs — and abundant birdlife, Moremi delivers exceptional game viewing in a pristine, protected setting.

Our favourite time to visit

From July to October, the dry season concentrates wildlife around permanent water sources, making it ideal for both game drives and boat safaris. The contrast between lush delta channels and golden floodplains creates a visually stunning backdrop for unforgettable nature encounters — a true jewel of the Okavango.
